How an EPS payment works
EPS is a bank redirect payment method:- The customer selects EPS at checkout.
- Payrails creates the payment at Checkout.com and returns a redirect URL, and the customer goes to their bank.
- The customer confirms the payment in their online banking.
- The bank sends the customer back to your
returnInfoURL. - Payrails receives the final result from Checkout.com and updates the payment.
Supported currencies and countries
EPS supports EUR (euro) as its only presentment currency.Supported workflows
Before you begin
Complete these steps before you send your first EPS payment through Checkout.com:- Set up a Checkout.com integration in your workspace. Follow the Checkout.com integration setup guide if you don’t have one yet.
- Ask Checkout.com support to enable EPS on your Checkout.com account.
- In the Payrails Portal, go to Settings → Integrations, open your Checkout.com integration, select EPS under Payment methods, and save.
- Add EPS as a payment option in your workflow.
Request fields for Checkout.com
EPS needs no method-specific fields. Send the standard authorize fields, including thereturnInfo URLs for the redirect. Payrails also sends these fields to Checkout.com when they’re present:
Authorize an EPS payment
Call authorize a payment witheps as the paymentMethodCode. The response includes the redirect to the customer’s bank.
Authorize request
success or error URL. Confirm the result through webhook notifications or the execution status before you fulfill the order.
How Checkout.com handles EPS
- Payrails creates the EPS payment through the Checkout.com Payment Setup API. Checkout.com needs no payment token for EPS.
- If Checkout.com doesn’t return a redirect for a pending EPS payment, Payrails fails the payment, because the customer can’t complete it.
- Payrails doesn’t save the EPS payment method at Checkout.com, so Save Instruments and MIT aren’t available.
