How a Bizum payment works
Bizum is a notification-driven payment method. The customer stays on your checkout, with no redirect:- The customer selects Bizum at checkout, and you send their phone number in the authorize request.
- Payrails creates the payment at Checkout.com, and the payment stays pending.
- The customer approves the payment in their banking app.
- Checkout.com sends the final result to Payrails as a webhook notification, and Payrails updates the payment.
Supported currencies and countries
Bizum supports EUR (euro) as its only presentment currency.Supported workflows
Before you begin
Complete these steps before you send your first Bizum payment through Checkout.com:- Set up a Checkout.com integration in your workspace. Follow the Checkout.com integration setup guide if you don’t have one yet.
- Ask Checkout.com support to enable Bizum on your Checkout.com account.
- In the Payrails Portal, go to Settings → Integrations, open your Checkout.com integration, select Bizum under Payment methods, and save.
- Add Bizum as a payment option in your workflow.
Request fields for Checkout.com
Send these fields in the authorize request, in addition to the standard authorize fields. Payrails checks Required fields and returns an error when one is missing. Fields required by the PSP pass the Payrails checks but the PSP can decline the payment without them.Authorize a Bizum payment
Call authorize a payment withbizum as the paymentMethodCode.

How Checkout.com handles Bizum
- Payrails creates the Bizum payment through the Checkout.com Payment Setup API, and sends the phone number to Checkout.com on the customer.
- Payrails checks that both the phone number and the dialing code are present before it calls Checkout.com.
- A Bizum payment needs no redirect. Payrails keeps the payment pending until Checkout.com sends the final result as a webhook notification.
- Payrails doesn’t save the Bizum payment method at Checkout.com, so Save Instruments and MIT aren’t available.
