Customers in Egypt can pay from the mobile wallets that Egyptian banks and mobile operators offer. Payrails processes nine of these wallets through Boku as the payment service provider (PSP). Each wallet has its own paymentMethodCode, and all nine use the same flow and request fields.

How an Egyptian mobile wallet payment works

Egyptian mobile wallets are redirect payment methods:
  1. The customer selects their wallet at checkout.
  2. Payrails returns a redirect URL from Boku, and the customer goes to the Boku payment page.
  3. The customer confirms the payment with their wallet.
  4. Boku sends the customer back to your returnInfo URL.
  5. Payrails receives the final result from Boku and updates the payment.
Each payment is single-use: the customer confirms every payment on its own. Payrails captures these payments immediately, so a successful payment is final. To return funds, refund the payment.

Supported currencies and countries

Egyptian mobile wallets support EGP (Egyptian pound) as their presentment currency.

Integrate Egyptian mobile wallets

Choose the PSP that processes Egyptian mobile wallets for you. The guide covers the PSP-side setup, the Payrails configuration and the request fields that PSP requires.

Ways to integrate Egyptian mobile wallets

  • Payrails SDK: the Web SDK shows Egyptian mobile wallets when your workflow returns it as a payment option.
  • Payrails API: call lookup payment options, then authorize with the wallet’s code as the paymentMethodCode. The PSP guide lists the meta fields that PSP requires.
In both cases, confirm the final result through webhook notifications or the execution status.
