EPS (Electronic Payment Standard) is an online bank transfer payment method in Austria. Customers pay from their Austrian bank account and confirm each payment in their online banking. Payrails processes EPS through Checkout.com.

How an EPS payment works

EPS is a bank redirect payment method:
  1. The customer selects EPS at checkout.
  2. Payrails creates the payment at Checkout.com and returns a redirect URL, and the customer goes to their bank.
  3. The customer confirms the payment in their online banking.
  4. The bank sends the customer back to your returnInfo URL.
  5. Payrails receives the final result from Checkout.com and updates the payment.
Each payment is single-use: the customer confirms every payment on its own. Payrails captures EPS payments immediately, so a successful payment is final.

Supported currencies and countries

EPS supports EUR (euro) as its only presentment currency.

Integrate EPS

Ways to integrate EPS

  • Payrails SDK: the Web SDK shows EPS when your workflow returns it as a payment option.
  • Payrails API: call lookup payment options, then authorize with eps as the paymentMethodCode. The PSP guide lists the meta fields that PSP requires.
In both cases, confirm the final result through webhook notifications or the execution status.
