Khipu is a real-time bank transfer payment method in Chile. Customers pay straight from their online banking account instead of with a card. Payrails processes Khipu through dLocal as the payment service provider (PSP).

How a Khipu payment works

Khipu is a redirect payment method:
  1. The customer selects Khipu at checkout.
  2. Payrails returns a redirect URL from dLocal, and the customer goes to the Khipu payment page.
  3. The customer selects their bank, signs in, and confirms the transfer.
  4. The customer returns to your returnInfo URL.
  5. Payrails receives the final result from dLocal and updates the payment.
Each payment is single-use: the customer confirms every transfer on its own. Payrails captures Khipu payments immediately, so a successful payment is final. To return funds, refund the payment.

Supported currencies and countries

Khipu supports CLP (Chilean peso) as its only presentment currency.

Integrate Khipu

Choose the PSP that processes Khipu for you. The guide covers the PSP-side setup, the Payrails configuration and the request fields that PSP requires.

Ways to integrate Khipu

  • Payrails SDK: the Web SDK shows Khipu when your workflow returns it as a payment option.
  • Payrails API: call lookup payment options, then authorize with khipu as the paymentMethodCode. The PSP guide lists the meta fields that PSP requires.
In both cases, confirm the final result through webhook notifications or the execution status.
