Accept WeChat Pay payments from customers in China with Worldpay as the payment service provider (PSP). Worldpay returns a QR code instead of a redirect, and the customer scans it with the WeChat app to pay.

Supported workflows

Before you begin

Complete these steps before you send your first WeChat Pay payment through Worldpay:
  1. Set up a Worldpay integration in your workspace. Contact your Payrails account team if Worldpay isn’t listed in your Payrails Portal yet.
  2. Ask Worldpay to enable WeChat Pay on your Worldpay entity.
  3. In the Payrails Portal, go to Settings → Integrations, open your Worldpay integration, select WeChat Pay under Payment methods, and save.
  4. Add WeChat Pay as a payment option in your workflow.

Request fields for Worldpay

Send these fields in the authorize request, in addition to the standard authorize fields. Payrails checks Required fields and returns an error when one is missing. Fields required by the PSP pass the Payrails checks but the PSP can decline the payment without them. Payrails sends no customer details and no result URLs to Worldpay for WeChat Pay.

Authorize a WeChat Pay payment

Call authorize a payment with weChatPay as the paymentMethodCode. The payment stays pending until the customer scans the QR code and pays.
Authorize request
Confirm the result through webhook notifications or the execution status before you fulfill the order.

How Worldpay handles WeChat Pay

  • Worldpay returns the QR code as an image, not as a redirect URL. There’s no redirect back to your site.
  • Payrails doesn’t wait for a final result in the authorize response. The payment stays pending until Worldpay sends the result.
