PayNow is Singapore’s real-time bank transfer scheme. Customers scan a PayNow QR code with their banking app and approve the transfer there. Payrails processes PayNow through Adyen as the payment service provider (PSP). Open the Adyen guide below for its setup steps and request examples.

How a PayNow payment works

PayNow is a QR code payment method:
  1. The customer selects PayNow at checkout.
  2. Payrails redirects the customer to a Payrails-hosted page that shows the PayNow QR code.
  3. The customer scans the QR code with their banking app and approves the transfer.
  4. Payrails receives the final result from the PSP and updates the payment.
Each payment is single-use: the customer confirms every payment on its own. Payrails captures PayNow payments immediately, so a successful payment is final. To return funds, refund the payment.

Supported currencies and countries

PayNow supports SGD (Singapore dollar) as its only presentment currency.

Integrate PayNow

The Adyen guide covers the PSP-side setup, the Payrails configuration, and the request fields Adyen requires.

Ways to integrate PayNow

  • Payrails SDK: the Web SDK shows PayNow when your workflow returns it as a payment option, and redirects the customer to the Payrails-hosted QR code page. To control how the redirect opens, listen for the actionRequired event.
  • Payrails API: call lookup payment options, then authorize with payNow as the paymentMethodCode. The Adyen guide lists the fields Adyen requires.
In both cases, confirm the final result through webhook notifications or the execution status. Don’t treat the customer’s return to your success URL as proof of payment.
