Accept MB WAY payments from customers in Portugal with Stripe as the payment service provider (PSP). The customer approves the payment in the MB WAY app and returns to your site.

Supported workflows

Before you begin

Complete these steps before you send your first MB WAY payment through Stripe:
  1. Set up a Stripe integration in your workspace. Follow the Stripe integration setup guide if you don’t have one yet.
  2. Turn on MB WAY in your Stripe Dashboard payment method settings.
  3. In the Payrails Portal, go to Settings → Integrations, open your Stripe integration, select MB Way under Payment methods, and save.
  4. Add MB WAY as a payment option in your workflow.

Request fields for Stripe

Send these fields in the authorize request, in addition to the standard authorize fields. Payrails checks Required fields and returns an error when one is missing. Fields required by the PSP pass the Payrails checks but the PSP can decline the payment without them.

Authorize an MB WAY payment

Call authorize a payment with mbWay as the paymentMethodCode.
Authorize request
After the customer approves the payment in the app, confirm the result through webhook notifications or the execution status before you fulfill the order.

How Stripe handles MB WAY

  • Payrails sends the phone number to Stripe in international format as the billing phone.
  • Stripe accepts MB WAY only in EUR. Payrails rejects other currencies before calling Stripe.
  • Zero-amount authorizations aren’t supported.
  • Payrails doesn’t save the Stripe payment method for later payments, so Save Instruments and MIT aren’t available.

Merchant regions

Merchants with Stripe accounts in Europe and the United States can accept MB WAY through Stripe.
