PayJustNow is a buy now, pay later (BNPL) payment method in South Africa. Customers check out with their PayJustNow account and pay for the order over time. Payrails processes PayJustNow through one payment service provider (PSP), which is PayJustNow itself. Open the PayJustNow guide below for its setup steps and request examples.

How a PayJustNow payment works

PayJustNow is a hosted payment page:
  1. The customer selects PayJustNow at checkout.
  2. Payrails creates a PayJustNow checkout and returns its redirect URL.
  3. On the PayJustNow page, the customer signs in to their PayJustNow account and confirms the payment.
  4. PayJustNow sends the customer back to your returnInfo URL.
  5. Payrails receives the final result from PayJustNow and updates the payment.
Each payment is single-use: the customer confirms every payment on its own. Payrails captures PayJustNow payments immediately, so a successful payment is final. To return funds, refund the payment.

PayJustNow is a one-off payment method: Payrails doesn’t save a PayJustNow instrument for later merchant-initiated transactions (MIT).

Ways to integrate PayJustNow

  • Payrails SDK: the Web SDK shows PayJustNow when your workflow returns it as a payment option, and redirects the customer to the PayJustNow page. To control how the redirect opens, listen for the actionRequired event.
  • Payrails API: call lookup payment options, then authorize with payjustnow as the paymentMethodCode and hpp as the integrationType. The PayJustNow guide lists the meta fields PayJustNow requires.
In both cases, confirm the final result through webhook notifications or the execution status. Don’t treat the customer’s return to your success URL as proof of payment.
