PagoEfectivo is a payment network in Peru. Customers get a payment code for their purchase and pay it in cash at a bank or agent, or through their online or mobile banking. It gives customers without a card a way to pay online. Payrails processes PagoEfectivo through two payment service providers (PSPs): dLocal and Mercado Pago. With dLocal, the customer selects PagoEfectivo in your checkout. With Mercado Pago, the customer selects Mercado Pago in your checkout and picks PagoEfectivo on the Mercado Pago page. Pick a PSP below for its setup steps and request examples.

How a PagoEfectivo payment works

PagoEfectivo is a redirect payment method that ends with an offline or online bank payment:
  1. The customer selects PagoEfectivo, or Mercado Pago, at checkout.
  2. Payrails returns a redirect URL from the PSP, and the customer goes to the PSP’s payment page.
  3. The page shows a PagoEfectivo payment code (CIP).
  4. The customer pays the code at a bank, at an agent, or through online or mobile banking.
  5. Payrails receives the final result from the PSP and updates the payment.
The payment stays pending until the customer pays the code. Each payment is single-use. Payrails captures PagoEfectivo payments immediately, so a successful payment is final. To return funds, refund the payment.

Supported currencies and countries

PagoEfectivo supports PEN (Peruvian sol) as its only presentment currency.

Ways to integrate PagoEfectivo

  • Payrails SDK: the Web SDK shows the payment option your workflow returns — PagoEfectivo for dLocal, or Mercado Pago for Mercado Pago — and redirects the customer to the PSP’s payment page. To control how the redirect opens, listen for the actionRequired event.
  • Payrails API: call lookup payment options, then authorize with pagoEfectivo as the paymentMethodCode for dLocal, or mercadoPago for Mercado Pago. Each PSP guide lists the fields that PSP requires.
In both cases, confirm the final result through webhook notifications or the execution status. A PagoEfectivo payment stays pending until the customer pays the code, so don’t fulfill the order on the authorize response or the customer’s return to your site.
